Green-Day Travel, Tours & Events Ltd has a special interest in developing the Volta Region of Ghana since this is where the company started operations from. This is the sole reason why we have included most of the region’s tourist destinations in our special packages.

Volta Region is located in the eastern part of Ghana, sharing its eastern boundary with the Republic of Togo, western with the Volta River and lake, the southern border is the Atlantic Ocean while the north shares a boundary with the Northern Region. The region is an area of extra-ordinary scenic beauty made up of flat undulating sandy beaches with adjoining mangrove swamps and the coastal savannah in the south; captivating and rolling hills and valleys spotting a number of spectacular waterfalls and caves clothed in moist semi-deciduous forest of the central portion; the open high savannah grassland that produces a number of food crops and livestock to the north.

The VOLTA is Ghana in microcosm, because the region has virtually all that makes news in the other regions as far as tourism is concerned. You shall therefore experience an all access pass to the "real Ghana." You shall explore every day city life, visit remote villages, take part in traditional cooking, fishing, drumming, fabric dyeing and stamping workshops, visit one of Ghana's most beautiful waterfalls, see the sacred monkeys of Tafi Atome and more.

Virtually, all the major tribal groupings in Ghana such as the Ewes (natives), the Akans, the Guans, the Ga-Adangbes, etc, have settlements in the Volta Region. Volta Region has a very rich cultural heritage. The traditional Ghanaian hospitality is on display everywhere with “WOEZOR” (meaning welcome), the most frequently heard word.

Vast investment opportunities exist in this region. They include: development of tourists sites, salt mining, development of the shrimp industry, youth exchange programs with schools in the various communities, minerals exploitation including chromites, talc, garnet, rutile, gneiss and uranium. Others are: Agriculture, including fish farming and the promotion of traditional crafts.
